Fossil Day At Mastodon State Historic Site
Saturday, June 13,2009, 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Free
Visit the Mastodon State Historic Site Museum Annex, where kids will have a chance to dig up and document fossils that are buried in the site's dig box. In addition, exhibits on Missouri fossils and a display of fossils by the Eastern Missouri Society of Paleontology spanning the geologic history of Missouri will be available to view. Free admission to the site's museum, which displays ancient artifacts, fossils and a mastodon skeleton replica, and guided tours to the former excavation site will highlight the event. At this year's event, a new program about how previous people (Greeks, Native Americans and American colonists) viewed the ancient mammals will be presented.
