National Cheesecake Day - 7/30

sigh Such an important holiday absolutely *must* be celebrated....and it's my little brother's birthday.....and he loves to be a good big sister I definitely should take myself to The Cheesecake Factory for half-price cheesecake in his honor, right? Of course I should!

The Cheesecake Factory is offering half-price cheesecake for the holiday (dine in only) and premiering a new flavor - Red Velvet Cheesecake. drool As if that's not enough, for each slice of Red Velvet sold over the next year, The Cheesecake Factory will donate 25 cents to Feeding America. So, how can you say no? Raise a fork, help raise money for charity, and think 'Happy Birthday' #34 for my baby brother. :)

McDs free drink coupon

Go HERE to take a short, and silly, quiz. At the end, you can print a coupon for a free drink at McDonald's. The coupon will have your name on it and expires literally 72 hours (to the minute) after printing, so do it when you know you'll be able to use it. I used mine today for a medium mocha (any friends surprised?) after the vet and it was free-free, no tax charged. Gotta love that! 8^D

Reusable Bag

This week World Market is giving away tote bags. The ad says one per person per day, no purchase necessary, while supplies last. The bag is cute and World Market is always fun to shop.

I love reusable bags. They're better for the environment in the long run and hold a lot more than paper or plastic. Plus with the straps you can carry more bags at one time. Very helpful when unloading the van.

Back to school time.....

Shhh, don't tell the kids unless you like grumbling and pouting, but it's time to start thinking about Back to School. I haven't told my kids yet because they don't like to see me grumbling and pouting. ;-) I'm not ready for lazy summer to be over yet, but we are at the halfway mark and back to school ads/merchandise are making their appearances. Alyssa at Kingdom First has compiled a list of Sales Tax Free days HERE. MO is Aug. 7-9.

I remember the first year MO did Sales Tax Free weekend and the mall was NUTS. Last year, I didn't see any difference in the number of shoppers or level of craziness from any other weekend. Hopefully this year will be equally pleasant. I'm sitting on a $5 off $25 school supply purchase coupon from Target and will use it that weekend. As much as I don't want summer to end, I love new school supplies....fresh spiral notebooks, new pencils and crayons, pens full of ink, it's the little things.

Love Ashley Tisdale?

Or know someone who does? Well, Ashley has a new CD coming out July 28th and you can register HERE to get a Party Pack to celebrate. Pack includes lip gloss, posters, stickers CD, and ... insert tween girl squeal here ... a note from Ashley!

Walgreens Coupon 7/17

Print a coupon HERE for $5 off a $25 purchase at Walgreens. The coupon expires today (7/17). The fine print says $25 must be your after coupon total, so watch carefully and don't fall below the $25 or the coupon is invalid. There are several things you cannot purchase with the coupon, so read it closely. Your best bet to use the $5 coupon and still get some good deals is to use it on items that print Register Rewards. Good luck!

Chcolate Friday!

It's Friday! If you haven't already hit your limit of four free bars per household, don't forget to register at Mars Real Chocolate Relief Act today. Mars is giving away 250,000 coupons for a free candy bar each Friday this summer. You can register HERE once per Friday per email and there is a limit of four coupons total per household. We have four emails, so I registered them all on one Friday and was finished for the summer.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

St. Louis Zoo

Always fun, the Zoo has extra activities during the summer like extended weekend hours, Jungle Boogie Friday nights, Animal Enrichment activities on Saturday and Sunday evenings, and Keeper Chats during the day. The free hour (8-9 am) includes Children's Zoo, Conservation Carousel, AND the Stingray exhibit.

Missouri Botanical Garden

Henry Shaw opened his garden to the public on June 15, 1859. Now called Missouri Botanical Garden, I think it's a St. Louis jewel. It's gorgeous to look at, fun to just stroll, great photo ops everywhere, and who can resist feeding the giant koi? The Garden is celebrating its 150th anniversary with lots of activities. Go HERE to check out the list.

Free highlights include the Whitaker Music Festival, free admission after 5, you can bring a picnic or purchase food on site, local musical acts perform outside in the beauty of the Garden. Nice way to spend a Wednesday evening in STL.

We've gone to Mr. Shaw's Birthday Party before and had a great time. There's an actor walking around as Mr. Shaw saying 'Welcome to my Garden' and teasing about 'don't I look good for 200?' Very family friendly and lots of things to look at in addition to the Garden itself.
July 24
Missouri Botanical Garden founder Henry Shaw’s 209th birthday celebration. Admission is free for all visitors from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.! Old-fashioned entertainment includes music, a silhouette artist, stilt-walker, magician, actors in Victorian fashions, children’s games, and fun in the Children’s Garden. Activities from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Spoehrer Plaza, outside the Ridgway Visitor Center.

Walgreens sunscreen deal

Walgreens is running a promo - buy two Coppertone products, get $10 in Register Rewards. Go HERE to print two $5 off Coppertone Nutrashield sunscreen. They are $10.99 each in the store. Buy two, use two coupons and it's almost BOGO, then you get $10 to use in the future (usually a two week expiration date on Register Rewards) and you've basically paid $2 for two tubes of sunscreen. I picked mine up today and they had purse sized tubes attached as a bonus.

O Magazine

Go HERE to sign up for a free 5 month subscription to O Magazine. This one will likely go very quickly. If you get in, you will receive Aug-Dec. There's no obligation to continue beyond that, no subscription to cancel, and no automatic renewal. You will probably get something saying 'if you've enjoyed the magazine, you can continue for $X' from the publisher, but you are not obligated to continue. Free magazines rock! 8^D

Dots sale

Dots is having a clearance sale. Tanks start at $3, flips at $5, dresses at $9, capris & shorts at $10. Because I'm on their mailing list, they emailed me a coupon for a free tank if I spend $20. I've been playing with the site and found a black dress, two brown dresses and some hot pink sandals so far....

Veggie Tales DVD

"If you like to talk to tomatoes, if a squash can make you smile...." then waltz with the potatoes up and down the produce aisle (okay, I'm done) straight over to Kingdom First Mom. Alyssa has the details HERE on how to get a FREE Veggie Tales DVD (shipping is $3). Current choices are Tales from the Sock Drawer, Where's God When I'm S-scared, and Ballad of Little Joe.

While you're there, if you pre-order Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah's Umbrella, you'll receive Larry Boy and the Bad Apple free.

Juicy Juice cup

Sign up with Juicy Juice HERE and receive a welcome gift, your choice of a sippy cup or a straw cup and a baby/toddler nutrition guide.

Samples email

Spam is an unfortunate reality of online life. The more your email address is 'out there', the more junk you're likely to get. If you're going to request samples from companies and/or sign up for newsletters, loyalty clubs, coupons, I recommend you set up a samples/newsletters only email to reduce the spam in your 'real' email. You can set up a free account with yahoo or hotmail and use it just for this purpose. I have one and never use my 'real' address for offers. My 'real' email gets maybe one spam email a week, my 'sign up' email gets 20+ daily.

Sundiwear stickers

Free sample pack of Sundiwear stickers HERE. You put them on (skin or clothes) when you apply sunblock. When the yellow sticker turns red, it's time for more sunblock. "Sundiwear stickers turn red so your child won't" lol Love that! I have two pale kids and one pale husband so if they really work, I'll have to buy a pack or two before our trip to Disney. A 20 pack is $5, about the same as one bottle of 'I didn't reapply soon enough' aloe. ;-)

Easy Bakeware

This one takes a bit of effort, but it's worth it. You can order silicone bakeware or assorted other items for $1 shipped HERE, but there are a few hoops to jump through to get it for $1. While the hoops are very simple to jump, it's important to hit them all. Be aware that in order to get the item for just $1, you are signing up for a trial membership to a shopping club and must cancel within 7 days to avoid further charges.

Rachel at Surviving the Stores has a great tutorial HERE and answers the 'is it a scam' question HERE. While I have done this twice, Rachel taught me so you should read her very detailed how-to. I admit I was a bit nervous the first time, but received my loaf pan without a glitch and didn't have any issues with my credit card. If your card offers one time use numbers, use that for an added level of comfort. When I canceled my trial membership it was through touch tone phone and I didn't have a person trying to talk me into staying.

Remember - Do NOT do it if you're going to forget to cancel the trial membership. You will be charged for the membership.

You can order this monthly, so you can stock your kitchen and/or get some cheap gifts.

Starbucks on Facebook

Another giveaway on Facebook -- I just might have to sign up to take advantage of these giveaways. If you're on Facebook, add the Starbucks Ice Cream Facebook Application and get a coupon for a free pint of Starbucks Ice Cream. drool They are giving away 800 an hour. If you don't want yours......

Target receipt coupons

Don't forget to check the coupons that print at the end of your Target receipt. This week I got one for $5 off a $25 school supply purchase. It's good until the end of August, so it should cover the super cheap sales before school starts. yay! A lot of charities and churches hold school supply drives in the fall. If you don't need $25 worth for yourself, you can donate the extra to a child who does.

Kohl's clearance sale

Kohl's clearance is now at 60-80% off. :-D Time for a little shopping...

Ziploc pack

The first 10,000 to register HERE will receive a prize pack of Ziploc sandwich bags and a Ziploc Fresh Shield Twist n Loc container.

I've received several packages from Right@Home. They take a long time to arrive (this one says it will mail before Sept. 15th), but are a lovely surprise when they do eventually show up in your mailbox.

Coupons in Parade

Don't throw out Sunday's paper yet. Parade magazine has several coupons in it, including $1 and $2 CoverGirl coupons. The rumor around the net is that KMart is going to offer Super Doubles on July 5th. That's when they double up to $2 coupons. Last time they had Super Doubles, they also ran cosmetics sales. I got a lot of cosmetics for cheap. I probably don't need to go next week if they do Super Doubles.....but then again, $4 off is pretty good. ;-)

Half off at ELF

Site wide, buy one get one half off at e.l.f.
Good time to try some new products or shades. Since much of their product line is $1, it's a cheap luxury. I love their lip gloss!
